Agnico-Eagle provides notice of release of first quarter 2008 results;
Sets date for opening ceremony at new Goldex Mine

TORONTO, April 2, 2008 - Agnico-Eagle Mines Limited (TSX / NYSE: AEM) ("Agnico" or the "Company") today announced that it will release its first quarter 2008 results on Thursday, May 8, 2008, after normal trading hours. Additionally, the Company will host its Annual and Special General Meeting ("AGM") the next day in Toronto.

The AGM will begin on Friday, May 9, 2008 at 11:00am (EST). The meeting will be held at Le Meridien King Edward Hotel, Sovereign Ballroom located at 37 King Street East, Toronto, Canada. During the meeting we will provide an overview of our first quarter operating and financial results along with an update on our growth projects. For those unable to attend in person, there are several alternatives listed below.
