Goldcorp Reports Minimal Investment in Canadian Asset Backed Securities
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, August 17, 2007 - GOLDCORP INC.
(TSX: G, NYSE: GG)
today reported that approximately $14 million of its $600 million in cash and cash equivalents is invested in a Canadian Asset-Backed Commercial Paper Fund, representing 2% of its overall cash and cash equivalent investments. The fund, whose liquidity lender is the Bank of Nova Scotia, is accorded the highest rating [R-1 (high)] available from the Dominion Bond Rating Service. The Company does not consider its investment in this fund at risk. All of the Company's cash and equivalents are invested in funds carrying the highest possible investment grade as determined by leading rating agencies.
