Robex Resources Inc./Moussala: Trenching Campaign |
QUEBEC CITY, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Dec. 22, 2011) - Robex Resources Inc. (TSX VENTURE:RBX)(FRANKFURT:RB4) launched a trenching exploration campaign on Monday, December 5, 2011, on the Moussala permit in southwestern Mali. Work on this permit, in which Robex holds 100% of the rights, will consist of excavating three trenches that are 100 metres long and more than three metres deep, in addition to finalizing regolith mapping.
The Moussala permit, which covers an area of 67 km2, is located in the south of the gold-bearing province of Kenieba, about 30 km to the south of the Loulo mine (over 3,000,000 Au/oz) and Tabakoto mine (over 2,000,000 Au/oz). Moussala is associated with Early Proterozoic Birimian sediment, showing greenschist facies metaphorphism. The formations are transected by igneous rock with a mafic to felsic composition. Significant geochemical, geological and structural anomalies, which may lead to the discovery of gold deposits, are present in the claim. The entire Kenieba region is subject to intensive gold washing, including Bilali Santo, the most active site, which is part of the same geological structure as Moussala.
In 1997 and 1998, geochemical surveys demonstrated the existence of eight anomalies (M1 to M8). As the permit owner since 2005, Robex led a 777-metre linear trenching campaign in 2007 for five of the anomalies. The results confirmed the permit's gold-mining potential. The three remaining anomalies, located in the east and southeast sections, are the target of this campaign.
Below are the 2007 campaign results:
---------------------------------------------
Trench Length (m) Grade
(g/t Au)
---------------------------------------------
T-001 38 to 40 1.469
---------------------------------------------
T-001 78 to 80 3.300
---------------------------------------------
T-002 104 to 106 1.006
---------------------------------------------
T-003 46 to 48 0.280
---------------------------------------------
T-005 108 to 110 0.658
---------------------------------------------
T-005 146 to 148 0.485
---------------------------------------------
The trenches will be excavated until they reach saprolite, samples of which will be analyzed to determine if the anomalies continue to depth. Based on the results, RC drilling will be planned and completed to explore the depth potential.
It should be noted that since the last of the three new bridges on the Bamako-Kita-Dakar road has been in service, travel time to Kenieba and Robex's West permits has been substantially reduced, from over 15 hours to less than 5. Going forward, it will be much easier for Robex to conduct work in this part of Mali.
