SAN DIEGO (AP) _ Sempra Energy (SRE) on Tuesday reported second-quarter profit of $295 million.
The San Diego-based company said it had profit of $1.17 per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, came to $1.03 per share.
The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 95 cents per share.
The natural gas and electricity provider posted revenue of $2.37 billion in the period.
Sempra expects full-year earnings in the range of $4.60 to $5 per share.
Sempra shares have declined almost 8 percent since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has risen roughly 2 percent. The stock has increased 3 percent in the last 12 months.
