Mr. J.T. Shearer reports
ELECTRA SHIPS PRODUCT TO ASH GROVE AND LAFARGE IN MAY, JUNE AND JULY
Electra Gold Ltd. has confirmed that a large barge load was shipped to the Ash Grove cement plant in Seattle on May 26, 2009. A barge load was also shipped on June 14, 2009, to the Lafarge cement plant in Richmond, B.C. The next large barge load to Ash Grove is scheduled for July 1, 2009.
A high alumina source was discovered recently at Harvey Cove property which will be explored in 2009. The area is west of LeMare Lake and Port Alice. The geyserite zones are numerous and appear, from preliminary inspection, to be similar in size to PEM100. This potential operation is situated in close proximity to existing load-out infrastructure, thereby reducing costs because there would be a relatively minor trucking component. Harvey Cove is located within the traditional territory of the Quatsino First Nation, which Electra has built a solid working relationship within its PEM100 operation. Discussions are continuing with a value-added manufacturer in Gold River for a high alumina product.
In Electra's efforts to reduce costs and to operate more efficiently, Electra is pleased to announce that Rob Paterson has now been appointed mine manager. Mr. Paterson has been contracting his services to Electra as production superintendent since January, 2008. Mr. Paterson's background in quality control has thus far provided Electra the ability to supply a high-quality product to its cement customers. Expanding his role will ensure that quality control begins at the drilling and blasting stage.
Electra has shipped over 600,000 tons of a silica-alumina product since 2003 for gross revenue of over $10-million to cement producers Ash Grove Cement in Seattle and Lafarge and Lehigh Cement in British Columbia.
