Thermo Fisher’s adjusted earnings per share of $1.63 beat this estimate by 1.2%. Revenues: Thermo Fisher posted revenues of $3.919 billion, missing the Zacks Consensus Estimate for revenues of $4.002 billion. Key Stats: Among its four business segments, Thermo Fisher delivered revenues of $1.02 billion (up 22.1%) in Life Sciences Solutions, $727.4 million (down 5.5%) in Analytical Instruments, $785.2 million (down 3.5%) in Specialty Diagnostics and $1.51 billion (down 4.8%) in Laboratory Products and Services respectively, following the acquisition of Life Technologies. Major Factors: In emerging markets, Thermo Fisher continued to make excellent progress and delivered strong results in China, South Korea and India; thereby increasing its direct commercial presence in Asia. Moreover the company deployed $800 million of capital to bolster its strategic position and create shareholder value, expanding its bioproduction offering by acquiring ASI and buying back its stock early in 2015. Stock Price: Following the earnings release, Thermo Fisher has lost 2% in the pre-market trading session. This reflects investors’ pessimism on the results.
