Constellation Energy to Supply Renewable Energy Certificates to the 2011 ‘Buy Lehigh Valley Expo'
BALTIMORE--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Constellation Energy Group, Inc. (NYSE: CEG) today announced it will supply renewable energy certificates (RECs) to the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce for its 2011 "Buy Lehigh Valley Expo" on Wednesday at Northampton Community College, Spartan Center, 3835 Green Pond Road, Bethlehem. Constellation Energy will supply the chamber RECs to match the estimated electricity usage throughout the Expo.
"RECs are an ideal opportunity for any organization to reduce its environmental impact," said David I. Fein, a vice president and director of retail energy policy at Constellation Energy. "Constellation Energy is proud to supply the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber with wind RECs. Together, we're creating a partnership that furthers our mutual commitment to renewable energy and a better environment."
"The Chamber is excited to partner with Constellation Energy in an effort to promote renewable energy," said T. Anthony Iannelli, president and CEO of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce. "We're proud of our commitment to the environment and continue to support renewable energy initiatives throughout the Lehigh Valley."
Created when renewable power is delivered to the electric grid, RECs are an effective way to promote sustainable energy without requiring a switch from a company's existing energy supplier. Each megawatt-hour of renewable energy delivered to the power grid results in the creation of one renewable energy certificate.
Constellation Energy operates in all of Pennsylvania's competitive markets, offering a variety of product solutions including energy efficiency, demand response and renewable energy certificates. It has signed a number of agreements to supply energy to commercial, industrial, nonprofit and government entities.
