December 22, 2008 -- Vancouver, British Columbia -- Happy Creek Minerals Ltd. (TSX-V: HPY, the "Company") is pleased to announce that, subject to regulatory acceptance, it has reached an agreement with Candorado Operating Company Ltd. ("Candorado") to purchase from Candorado a 100% interest in five mineral claims located in the Cariboo Mining Division, in the Province of British Columbia.  The claims are wholly-owned by Candorado and are adjacent to the Company's wholly owned Silverboss Property.

To acquire the claims, the Company is required to pay to Candorado $15,000 and issue 50,000 Happy Creek shares to Candorado.

The five mineral claims total 1,867.7 hectares (18.7 square kilometres) in area. Four claims are not subject to any underlying royalty interests.  One claim, of 79.5 hectares in area, is subject to a 2% Net Smelter Return Royalty payable to Alan Harvey of Clinton, B.C. for which 1% may be purchased by the Company for $1,000,000.  No finder's fee will be paid in connection with the acquisition of the claims.

The new mineral claims adjoin and compliment the Company's 100% owned Silverboss property. The Company now owns a 100% interest in mineral claims covering over 100 square kilometres in area that effectively surround the former Boss Mountain molybdenum mine (Xstrata PLC), located northeast of 100 Mile House, British Columbia. Exploration by the Company over the past two years to the north of the Boss Mountain mine property has returned strong evidence that molybdenum mineralization expands outward from the mine and well onto the Silverboss property.  In addition, large scale and positive values of up to 53.0 g/t (grams per tonne) gold occurs in soil and rock at higher elevations and outward of the molybdenum zone.
