Lucara ACQUISITION OF AK6 DIAMOND PROJECT RECEIVES republic of Botswana approval

December 17, 2009 (LUC ? TSXV) ? Lucara Diamond Corp. (?Lucara? or the ?Company?) is pleased to announce that it has received approval from the Government of the Republic of Botswana in respect of the Company?s acquisition of a 70.268% interest in the AK6 diamond project in Botswana.

As previously announced on November 10, 2009 Lucara entered into a Sale Agreement to acquire a 70.268% interest in Boteti Exploration (Pty) Ltd. (?Boteti?), which holds a 100% interest in the AK6 project, from De Beers Prospecting Botswana (Pty) Limited (?De Beers?).  All conditions requisite to completing the transaction have been satisfied and the acquisition has now closed.
