African Metals Corporation
("AFR") (TSX-V:AFR - News)(Frankfurt:OWW
- News) is pleased to provide
an update on exploration activities at its Luisha
South Project in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Summary
A total of 1538.73 metres
of diamond core drilling from 22 holes was completed at the Luisha South Project in January 2010. The holes targeted
down dip and southeast extensions of mineralization highlighted by the June
2010 RC drilling program. Ten angled and vertical holes were collared in the
base of the open pit whilst twelve holes were collared to the south and
southeast of the pit.
Luisha South Open Pit Diamond Drilling
Rubaco Sprl and DrillTek Sprl combined to
complete a 22 hole, 1538.73 metre drilling program
at the project. The drill holes are summarized in the table below.

Table 1: Diamond Drill Information, Luisha South Project
The drill holes around the open pit
intersected consistent Chalcopyrite and Carrolite
mineralization. Chalcopyrite is a copper-iron sulphide
mineral that commonly weathers to form the high grade copper mineral
malachite. Carrolite is a cobalt sulphide mineral composed of approximately 40% cobalt and
20% copper in its chemical makeup, the remaining percentages going to iron, sulphur and minor nickel. Carrolite
weathers to produce the high grade cobalt mineral heterogenite.
Mineralization styles observed in the core include both syngenetic
(bedding parallel fine pyrite lenses and blebs replaced by Chalcopyrite and Carrolite) and epigenetic (fracture and vein hosted sulphides).
Geological logging of the drill core
continues, and core samples are expected to be dispatched to SGS Minerals
Laboratory in Kalulushi, Zambia in late January for
processing and analysis. Analytical and SG determination results are expected
to be available by early to mid-March, depending on processing delays at the
laboratory.
AFR plans to courier selected samples
from the RC and diamond drilling programs to suitable consulting groups in
South Africa for metallurgical test work. The upgraded geological
interpretation, assay and metallurgical results will be used to calculate a
revised estimate of the maiden resource, and initiate desktop mining studies.
