NaiKun AGM Highlights Project Progress, Board Additions and the Year Ahead
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Feb. 7, 2008) - NaiKun Wind Energy Group Inc. ("NaiKun") (TSX VENTURE:NKW) held its Annual General Meeting in Vancouver February 6, 2008. NaiKun Chairman, President and CEO, Michael C. Burns addressed shareholders with a review of the company's progress. "The past year was our most successful and active to date. We continued to add high caliber talent to our Board and executive, secured agreements with key industry leaders, closed a significant private placement and concluded a formal agreement with the Haida Nation. Work at the project site progressed on schedule with the installation of a $2.5 million meteorological station," said Mr. Burns. The NaiKun year in review: Board and Executive - Bolstered executive team with turbine expert, Jesper K. Hansen, General Counsel Tony Fogarassy and CFO and Vice-President, Finance and Accounting, Doug King; - Strengthened and diversified board of directors with the additions of Canadian entrepreneur Joe S. Houssian and engineering and First Nations expert Fred Dabiri; - Established Bid Advisory Committee with industry leaders including Peter Besenovsky, Ken McCready and Scott Woronuik. Industry Partners - NaiKun retained Siemens Power, Transmission and Distribution to conduct and complete all necessary studies and reports for the project's transmission options; - Project certification experts Germanischer Lloyd Wind Energy to assist with quality management services for the design, engineering and construction of the project First Nations - Formal agreement with the Council of the Haida Nation; - Introduced HaidaLink concept to connect Haida Gwaii to the main energy grid; - Opened Haida Gwaii Energy Centre Financing - Completed $35.5 million private placement for phase one early equity requirements for phase one of the project Environmental Assessment Process - The project's environmental terms of reference approved - Environmental field research initiated and ongoing "Looking forward, our team, board and Bid Advisory Committee are focusing this year on the BC Hydro Clean Power Call.
