American Manganese Initiates Detailed Exploration on their 100% Owned Rocher Deboule Iron Oxide Copper Gold Target

August 22, 2011 - Vancouver, British Columbia

Larry W. Reaugh, President and Chief Executive Officer of American Manganese Inc., (TSX.V: AMY; Pink Sheets: AMYZF; Frankfurt: 2AM) (“American Manganese” or the “Company”) is pleased to report the Company has initiated a detailed exploration program of prospecting, mapping, soil and rock sampling and limited geophysics on their 100% owned, 9956 hectare (24,602 acre) property located 10 km south of New Hazelton, BC.

The property exploration will be conducted by Mr. Dan Ethier an experienced prospector located in New Hazelton.  Consulting Geologists are Robert Pinsent, PhD and Andris Kikauka, P.Geo.

Historic Mining and Shipment Highlights of the property are as follows:

*One high-grade shipment of 23 tons averaged 6.25 opt Gold.
The above shipments contained high grade Gold (6.25 opt), Silver (8.70 opt) Copper (7.0%), Cobalt (2.5%) and Molybdenum (1.15%)

*Where historical estimates are referred to, the Company has no classification of the resource or reserve, and the Company has not obtained enough of the original data and has not done the work necessary to verify the classification of a resource or reserve.  The Company is not treating the estimates as a NI 43-101 defined resource or reserve verified by a Qualified Person, and the historical estimate should not be relied upon.

The property is located within 10 km of power, highways and railroads.  Results will be reported as they are received.
