VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - April 6, 2011) - Commander Resources Ltd. (News - Market indicators) ("Commander Resources" or "Commander") announces the appointment of Mr. Stephen Potts, P.Geo to the position of Vice President, Exploration. Mr. Potts brings more than 20 years experience in the exploration and mining industry to the Company. He has acted most recently as a consulting geologist, managing exploration programs in the White Gold area in the Yukon, BC, and northwestern Ontario. He had previously held positions as the Environmental Project Manager and Drilling Manager for Phoenix Enterprises Ltd. He was Chief Geologist for Lonrho Platinum in South Africa for seven years and prior to that was an underground geologist in the Witwatersrand gold mining district, based near Johannesburg.

In connection with his appointment, Mr. Potts has been granted 400,000 stock options of the Company under its stock option plan, in accordance with the Company's compensation policy. The options are exercisable for five years at a price of $0.17 per share, and are subject to the policies of the TSX Venture Exchange. 

Mr. Potts replaces Mr. Bernard Kahlert, who will move to the position of Vice President, Corporate Development. Bernie will use his extensive knowledge of geology and worldwide contacts to guide the growth of the Company. Commander would like to thank Bernie Kahlert who has served as Vice President, Exploration since 1990, when Commander Resources was formed. Mr. Kahlert will remain on the Board of Directors of the Company.
