Tirex Chief Executive Officer will present his views
on Albania at the first US-Albanian Investment Forum. This will be an
opportunity for Tirex to comment on Albania's
Mining Law, treatment of foreign investors and the regulatory environment as
well as Tirex's recently announced production
plans in areas such as Qaf Bari, Tuc, and Fushe Arres.
Tirex, the largest private sector investor in the
history of Albanian mineral exploration, has recently announced plans to
transition from exploration into production. Tirex
has injected significant capital and technical expertise to the Albanian
mineral exploration sector during prospecting and exploration and is now,
through its rights under Albanian Mining Law, planning full scale commercial
production.
Tirex's Chief Executive Officer, Bryan Slusarchuk, will be presenting at the largest Albanian
investment initiative of its kind as to the Tirex
experience in Albania and the evolution from exploration into production.
The venue is the First US-Albanian Investment Forum, a major investment event
that is hosting the Government of Albania in New York City, New York on
September 19th, 2011. Mr. Slusarchuk will be
speaking to an international audience of investors and financial institutions
at this prestigious event. Due to Tirex's recently
announced intentions in priority production areas such as Qaf
Bari, Tuc and Fushe Arres and Tirex's first mover
status in a new era of Albanian mineral exploration, Mr. Slusarchuk
is in a unique position to discuss investing in Albania with this audience of
professional financiers.
The Albanian delegation to the event is led by His Excellency Sali Berisha, Prime Minister,
Government of Albania and including Honorable Edmond Haxhinasto,
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Honorable Nasip Naco, Minister of
Economy, Trade and Energy and Honorable Sokol Olldashi, Minister of Public Works and Transportation.
The event will be opened by the Albanian Honourary
Consul, His Excellency Dritan Mishto.
In conducting its Albanian program to date, Tirex
has not only created substantial employment in the north but has also has
been active in the local communities. Since arriving in Albania, Tirex has upgraded roads in the local area, built an
exploration base camp to high international standards complete with a modern
first aid facility and helicopter pad, acted as a volunteer fire fighting
group in the north, donated a bus for children to be transported to school,
conducted a large educational event for mining professionals and academics in
Tirana, provided high quality English textbooks to local schools, and
established educational scholarships for Albanian students wishing to pursue
geology as a career. Tirex has also provided job
training to many local Albanians on modern geological and geophysical
equipment.
Bryan Slusarchuk, CEO, states, As a first mover in
an important industry sector in Albania, we are proud to have witnessed the
countrys growth. When we first came to Albania, many in the investment
community were very cautious about the prospects for the country. Today, we
are seeing a shift in this attitude as the investment world recognizes the
opportunity Albania presents. This country has a flat corporate and personal
tax rate of 10%, is a parliamentary democracy, a
member of NATO and a European Union candidate country. It is our belief that
Albania's best days as a country are ahead of it. I look forward to sharing
details of Tirex's experience in Albania with the
international investment community at this forum."
Tirexs ongoing exploration in Albania is funded,
in part, by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in
what was the banks first ever mineral exploration investment anywhere in the
world.
