Dean John-Wilson joins cast of The King and I at London Palladium
Dean John-Wilson will join Ken Watanabe and Kelli O'Hara in The King and I at the London Palladium, which has been extended due to high demand.
John-Wilson played the title role in Aladdin when it opened at the Prince Edward Theatre, and Na-Young Jeon will play the young lovers Lun Tha and Tuptim when it comes to the London Palladium from 21st June.
They join Kelli O'Hara, Ken Watanabe and Ruthie Ann Miles in Rodgers and Hammerstein's award-winning musical which transfers from a Tony Award-winning run on Broadway. It opens on 21st June, with an official opening on 3rd July, and has now been extended until 29th September.
In addition of Aladdin, Dean John-Wilson's theatre credits include Miss Atomic Bomb, Here Lies Love at the National Theatre and From Here to Eternity at the Shaftesbury Theatre.
Na-Young Jeon is known for portraying Gigi on an international tour of Miss Saigon, and Fantine in Les Miserables in the West End and South Korea.
The production is directed by Bartlett Sher, whose production of the play Oslo recently ran at the Harold Pinter and National Theatres, and was nominated for Best Direction of a Musical at the 2015 Tony Awards for the Broadway run of The King and I.
Telling the story of an English teacher who is employed by the King of Siam in an effort to try and modernise his country, The King and I features the songs "Something Wonderful", "I Whistle a Happy Tune", "I Have Dreamed" and "Shall We Dance?".
The King and I is at the London Palladium from 21st June until 29th September.
