December 10, 2007 Deep Drilling at Red Chris Confirms Expansion of Mineralized System VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Dec. 10, 2007) - Imperial Metals Corporation (TSX:III) reports final assay results for the six diamond drill holes designed to test deep mineralization at the Red Chris project in northern British Columbia. Four holes were drilled in the East Zone and two were drilled in the Main Zone. As previously reported, hole RC07-335 drilled in the East Zone intersected 1024.1 metres grading 1.01% copper, 1.26 g/t gold and 3.92 g/t silver and bottomed in strong mineralization. Assay results for hole RC07-338, which was drilled from the same collar to the north at -80 degrees, were 0.79% copper, 0.74 g/t gold and 2.02 g/t silver over 716.3 metres. Hole RC07-338 bottomed in strong mineralization but was terminated prematurely due to technical difficulties. The final 46.5 metres of hole RC07-338 averaged 1.05% copper, 1.67 g/t gold and 1.41 g/t silver, expanding the high grade mineralization 120 metres to the north of RC07-335 at this depth. The mineralization in this hole is still open to depth and to the north and will require additional exploration and delineation in future programs. RC07-339 was collared approximately 100 metres west of RC07-335 and drilled to the east at a dip of -60 degrees to a depth of 217.1 metres before being abandoned due to drilling difficulties. RC07-340 was collared from the same site and orientation and intersected 753.9 metres grading 0.60% copper, 0.56 g/t gold and 2.07 g/t silver. Hole RC07-340 demonstrates expansion of the higher grade zone 180 metres to the east of RC07-335 at a depth of 700 metres. Main Zone hole RC07-337, drilled from the same collar as RC07-336 at a dip of -60 degrees, intersected 1040.0 metres averaging 0.24% copper, 0.23 g/t gold and 0.59 g/t silver. Within this interval 332.5 metres averaged 0.39% copper, 0.35 g/t gold and 0.78 g/t silver from 112.5 to 445.0 metres. The mineralized intervals for the 2007 drilling are listed in the table below. In general, the horizontal area of the high grade mineralization in the East Zone and the gold to copper ratio of the East Zone both appear to increase with depth. Additional deep drilling at the East Zone is being planned for 2008. Steve Robertson, P.Geo., designated as the Qualified Person defined by National Instrument 43-101, prepared the data as described in this release. Samples were analyzed at Acme Analytical Laboratories in Vancouver. A comprehensive QA/QC program using blanks, standards and duplicates was maintained for all samples submitted to the lab.
