Los Andes drills 324.5 metres grading 0.45% Cu and 0.011% Mo at the Vizcachitas Copper-Molybdenum Project

October 30, 2007

Includes 0.6% Cu and 0.013% Mo over 90 metres

Vancouver, BC - Los Andes Copper Ltd. ("Los Andes", or the "Company", TSX Venture Exchange: LA) announces results from the remaining nine holes of the phase I drilling program at the Vizcachitas Project in Chile. A total of 5,165.3 metres were drilled in 18 holes during the program. The phase one program successfully confirmed the historical drilling carried out in the 1990s and extended the known mineralization to the south, east and west (See news releases dated August 23 and October 2, 2007).

Eight of the nine holes encountered significant mineralization including Hole LAV-73, the easternmost hole drilled on Section 1200NE, that intersected 0.43% Cu and 0.012% Mo (0.51% CuEq.*) over 235.45 metres, including a higher grade interval of 0.78% Cu and 0.011% Mo (0.86% CuEq.) between 32 and 62 metres. Highlights from the remaining holes are listed in the table below. Drill hole location maps and sections can be viewed at the Los Andes website www.losandescopper.com .

(*Copper equivalent is calculated for Mo values greater than 0.01% using US$1.50/lb Cu and US$10.00/lb Mo according to the formula CuEq% =Cu% + (Mo% x 10.00/1.50) and is not adjusted for metallurgical recoveries or net smelter return which remain uncertain and are assumed to be 100%).

Roger Moss, President and CEO of Los Andes commented as follows: "The Phase I drilling campaign has achieved the aims of verifying past drilling at Vizcachitas, and extending the extent of the known mineralization. The deposit remains open to the southwest, west, east and north as well as at depth."

Discussion of Results

LAV-71 tested the southern limit of the mineralization outlined by the historical drilling, and was drilled at an inclination of -70 to the northwest. The hole intersected quartz sericite altered granodiorite and porphyritic andesite below overburden to a depth of 144 metres, followed by biotite alterated andesite and granodiorite to the end of the hole.

LAV-76B was a stepout hole drilled 200 metres to the southwest of LAV-71 at an inclination of -70 to the northwest. The hole intersected diorite and andesite porphyry with weak biotite alteration overprinted by sericite alteration.

LAV-73, the easternmost hole drilled on section 1200NE, intersected quartz-sericite and locally biotite altered porphyritic andesite below overburden to the end of the hole. Weakly developed copper oxide mineralization was observed near surface.

LAV-74 is an infill hole drilled on Section 1500NE. It intersected biotite and quartz-sericite altered andesite below 39 metres of overburden to a depth of 179.6 metres, followed by tonalite with well developed quartz-sericite alteration overprinting earlier biotite alteration. Andesite, with weaker biotite and quartz-sericite alteration, was intersected again from 306 metres to the end of the hole at 369.3 metres.

LAV-77 is an infill hole drilled on section 1100NE. It intersected weak to moderate biotite altered porhyritic andesite over the length of the hole below 3m of talus.

LAV-78 was drilled approximately 200 metres northeast of LAV-77 and intersected alternating granodiorite and porphyrytic andesite with two breccia intervals. The first interval, between 98 and 198.2 metres, contains chlorite altered andesite and granodiorite fragments in a sulphide (pyrite-chalcopyrite with minor chalcocite) matrix. This interval gave the highest grade of 0.70% Cu and 0.013% Mo from 134 to 180 metres that included shorter intervals of 0.79% Cu and 0.006% Mo between 136 and 148 metres, and 0.95% Cu and 0.017% Mo between 158 and 176 metres. The second interval, between 210.2 and 221.25 metres is composed dominantly of granodiorite fragments in a sulphide matrix.

LAV-79 was collared 200 metres northwest of LAV-73 along section 1200NE and intersected biotite and quartz-sericte altered granodiorite below the overburden from 43.5 to 99.2 metres. Biotite altered andesite with minor granodiorite was intersected between 99.2 and 233.8 metres, followed by weakly altered granodiorite to the end of the hole.
LAV-80 was collared 233 metres southeast of LAV-71 and tested the southern extent of mineralization on section 900NE. The hole intersected an interval of biotite altered porphyritic andesite, intruded by monzonite from 67.3 metres to 158.6 metres, followed by quartz sericite altered granodiorite to the end of the hole intruded by monzodiorite between 241 and 248 metres.

LAV-81, the final hole of the program, is an infill hole drilled to fill a gap immediately east of the Rocin River. The hole intersected weakly altered granodiorite and porphyritic andesite below 61 metres of overburden to 114 metres. A biotite altered intrusive breccia, containing mainly andesite fragments, was intersected between114 and 259.5 metres. This breccia assayed 0.60% Cu and 0.013% Mo over 90 metres between 170 and 260 metres. The hole ended at 268.35 metres in silicified andesite.

Roger Moss, Ph.D., P.Geo, is the qualified person as defined by National Instrument 43-101 for the Vizcachitas Project. Logging, sampling and splitting of the drill core is conducted at the Vizcachitas site by independent consultants Geologica LTDA. under the direct supervision of geologist Ramon Fam. Samples are securely transported by Geologica staff to the SGS Laboratory in Santiago Chile and analyzed for copper and molybdenum by atomic absorption following a three acid digestion. Los Andes routinely inserts standards and blanks into the sample stream and sends 5% of sample rejects to Actlabs for check analysis.

About Vizcachitas

The Vizcachitas Project offers potential for a low strip, open pit operation in an area of low elevation with excellent infrastructure, including water and power in central Chile. The Vizcachitas deposit occurs in the same metallogenic belt as the large copper-molybdenum porphyries Rio Blanco-Los Bronces, Los Pelambres-El Pachon and El Teniente. Based on 68 drill holes previously completed by General Minerals Corporation and Placer Dome, the project contains an indicated resource of 232 million tonnes grading 0.46% copper and 0.014% molybdenum and an inferred resource of 619 million tonnes grading 0.38% copper and 0.013% molybdenum at a 0.30% copper cutoff.  At a 0.4% cutoff, indicated resources total 144 million tonnes grading 0.52% copper and 0.015% molybdenum and inferred resources total 211 million tonnes grading 0.46% copper and 0.016% molybdenum as detailed in the NI43-101 compliant technical report of A.C.A. Howe International Limited dated February 7, 2007. The technical report, as well as additional information about the Vizcachitas Project is available on our website at www.losandescopper.com .
