Major 3000 metre
drilling program in NSW Lachlan Fold Belt
Phase 1 focus old Bauloora Mine area (Cootamundra)
and Cobar tenements
Robust Resources Limited (ASX code: ROL)
("Robust") has signed an agreement with GOS Drilling to undertake a
3000 metres Phase 1 drilling program beginning in
July on key tenements in its NSW Lachlan Fold Belt portfolio.
- Phase 1 Main targets will be in the old Bauloora
Mine area near Cootamundra and Robust's three EL's
at Cobar.
- This will be followed by a committed Phase 2 drilling program on
the company's Cumnock EL near Orange.
COOTAMUNDRA-ORANGE TENEMENTS EXPLORATION UPDATE
Bauloora EL 6414 (NW of Cootamundra). Acquired to evaluate a large epithermal alteration
system and to seek small, high-grade base-precious metal deposits.
Over the last two months the company's geological
consultants have visited prospects within the licence
area and further evaluated them for drill-testing. Re-logging of a prior
explorer's drill core, petrographic studies of
altered rocks and reassessment of regional and prospect geophysical data is
continuing.
Most of the mineralisation
occurrences within the licence area are believed to
be parts of a large low-sulphidation epithermal alteration
system, and the most appropriate target type is narrow, high-grade base and
precious metal veins which may warrant narrow selective underground mining.
The old Bauloora Mine is the best
example of a possibly economic, narrow breccia vein,
and non-outcropping repetitions of this vein may exist nearby.
To date only limited shallow drilling has been carried out
on the known vein.
To generate further moderate and deep drilling targets, the
following program of work is planned for the Bauloora
Mine:
- Close-spaced
soil sampling of an approximately 800 x 400 metre
area surrounding the old mine workings. Prior explorer's data
suggests that narrow non-outcropping zones of mineralisation
could exist in this area.
- Drilling
of several fences of shallow top-to-toe inclined reverse-circulation
percussion geochemical holes to confirm the presence of additional mineralised zones
- Drilling
of several deep (200 to 400 metre)
reverse-circulation percussion/cored holes to test the Bauloora
Mine mineralisation at depth, as well as new
target zones.
Cumnock EL 6417 (North of Cadia/ Ridgeway near Orange). Prospective
for gold and base metal mineralisation.
A recent nine-hole reverse circulation percussion drilling
program (total 1,085 metres) at the Delaney's
Dyke prospect established the presence of extensive but sub ore-grade
zinc-copper-silver mineralisation in skarned rocks along the contact with the Gumble Granite
To further evaluate the Delaney's Dyke area, a short
program of geological mapping, rock sampling and petrological
studies, and soil sampling is planned. In addition, geological reconnaissance
and sampling is required to assess numerous base metal occurrences within mafic volcanic rocks of the Ordovician Cabonne
Group and the Devonian Cuga Burga
Volcanics
It is expected that both of these assessment programs will
generate further targets for testing by percussion drilling during the last
quarter of 2007.
