Abu Dhabi-based Gulf Piping Company (GPC) is working on an order for nine offshore jackets it won from Italian engineering contractor Saipem, a source has told MEED.
The jackets will be installed in Saudi Aramco’s offshore fields of Safaniya, Marjan, Hasbah, Zuluf and Berri.
Saipem, one of the five main contractors pre-qualified to bid for Aramco’s offshore projects as part of a long-term agreement (LTA) with the Saudi oil giant, won the main order for 19 jackets in July last year.
Saipem in turn sub-contracted the job to Malaysian fabricator Eversendai Offshore to build 10 of those jackets. GPC is understood to be building the nine other jackets.
The source could not confirm when GPC would be delivering its order.
MEED had reported that Eversendai will be completing and delivering its order to Saipem by the end of this year.
GPC is owned by the privately-owned, Abu Dhabi-based International Management & Construction Corporation. GPC operates six fabrication yards in Abu Dhabi – five in the Mussafah area and the sixth in the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi (ICAD).
