Taranis Identifies Large Copper-Gold Target at Naakenavaara, Finland

Lakewood, Colorado, July 15, 2009 - Taranis Resources Inc. ("Taranis") [TSX.V: TRO] is pleased to announce that it has completed 34.8 km of line cutting, surveying, and ground geophysical surveys (magnetics and electromagnetics) at its 100% owned Naakenavaara copper gold project located in Lapland, Finland.

The geophysical survey has been highly successful in identifying a large, oblate "bull's-eye" magnetic feature that is approximately 1.5 km in diameter east-west and 0.5 km in diameter north-south that is related to a large ultramafic intrusive body (sill?) that intrudes pyrite-bearing phyllites. Immediately east of the Naakenavaara Property is the Siitonen placer gold operation that may be related to the large feature outlined at Naakenavaara. Taranis has also re-logged a number of old drill holes that are available from the Geological Survey of Finland, and these included drill hole R617 which intersected 31.0 m of 0.32% Cu at a depth of 75 m downhole (dip -45.0 degrees) and drill hole R604 that intersected 10.0 m of 1.42 g/t Au at a depth of 164 m downhole (dip -45.4 degrees).

As a result of this re-logging, some interesting conclusions can be drawn about the occurrence of Cu and Au at Naakenvaara. The first is that disseminated Cu zones (chalcopyrite stringers) occur at the base of the ultramafic units, in the transition zone between ultramafic rocks and the underlying phyllitic sedimentary rocks. A gold-rich zone located tens of meters below the base of the ultramafic intrusive body was intersected in drill hole R604, but none of the other holes appear to have been drilled deep enough to intersect. Secondly, there is evidence that the Cu grade increases moving progressively eastward towards a small creek that cuts the project roughly in half. There has been no drilling completed on the east side of the creek, and Taranis has identified a number of coincident magnetic/electromagnetic anomalies in this area under a swamp that appear to be related to massive or semi-massive sulphide mineralization.

Taranis has re-sampled several of the old drill holes to verify the Cu and Au content and has submitted the samples to ALS Chemex Labs, and these will be reported when available. Taranis has also analyzed the drill core for Pt and Pd, which frequently accompany ultramafic assemblages in Finland and was not reported in any of the previous drilling.

John Gardiner, President and CEO of Taranis states "the north edge of this magnetic feature has been subjected to minimal exploration efforts which included some trenching and diamond drilling, and there appears to have been no drilling conducted on the south side of the magnetic feature. We are confident that Cu/Au mineralization found at Naakenavaara extends well beyond the known areas, and our geophysical surveys have been very successful at demonstrating this. The shallow nature of the overburden found at Naakenavaara makes this property an ideal candidate for cost effective trenching, but will also require drilling to test some of the geophysical anomalies found on the east half of the property".
