VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - March 23, 2011) - Integra Gold Corp. (News - Market indicators) (The "Company") is pleased to announce results from its recently completed drill program on the Sixteen Zone at its Lamaque project. Approximately 2,800 meters of drilling in 13 drill holes were completed at the Sixteen Zone in 2010, six intersected significant gold mineralization.
"Ongoing exploration on our Lamaque property continues to intersect high-grade gold mineralization, with the most recent drilling success taking place at the Sixteen Zone on the western edge of the property," comments Company CEO, John de Jong. SIXTEEN ZONE
In the property the mineralized zones are defined as mesothermal, structurally controlled deposits, which are typical of the Abitibi Greenstone Belt and abundant in other Archean greenstone belts around the world. The gold bearing quartz-tourmaline veins are late and cut all rock-types including irregular intrusive (diorite) bodies, which are affected by regional deformation and greenschist grade metamorphism. In the Sixteen zone, most of the gold intersections are veins hosted in porphyritic diorite and porphyritic granodiorite showing 1 to 5% pyrite in quartz with tourmaline, sericite and carbonate.
13 diamond drill holes defined an auriferous envelope verifying a mineralized zone previously recognized in 2003-2004 that were drilled on magnetic anomalies. Six of the 13 holes returned significant gold intersections.
The Company has designed a follow-up drill program for 2011 which will consist of 1,500 meters distributed over 8 holes, spaced at 100 metres and locally 50 metres apart in order to confirm the strength and continuity (lateral and depth) of the Sixteen Zone mineralization.
QUALITY ASSURANCE - QUALITY CONTROL
Thorough quality assurance and quality control program (QA/QC) protocol was utilized on the project including duplicate, blank and standard samples for all the holes. The core samples were respectively submitted directly to ALS Laboratory Group and Bourlamaque Labs in Val-d'Or for preparation and analysis. Analysis was conducted on 1 assay ton samples. Analysis of gold was by fire assay, with a gravimetric finish on samples exceeding 5 g/t gold. The gravimetric assay results were used for the reported composite intervals. The Lamaque project exploration is under the direct supervision of Alain Beauregard, P.Geol. of Geologica Inc., an independent qualified person as designated by National Instrument 43-101 who has reviewed the technical content of this release.
THE LAMAQUE PROPERTY
The Lamaque property is immediately adjacent to both the Sigma and Lamaque mines, which have produced approximately 9 million ounces of gold. The 2010 drilling campaign was initiated to expand the existing NI 43-101, inferred resource estimate at the Lamaque property which currently exists at: 375,375 gold ounces (1,238,308 tonne at 9.43 g/t gold) (WGM, 2004).
Two principal types of veins occur at the Lamaque Mine and on the property: sub-vertical and sub-horizontal veins. The veins occupy openings created by irregularities during progressive moment within the shears creating what are known as 'flats' which can be very high grade gold deposits.
