MONTREAL,
QUEBEC, CANADA--(Marketwire
- Aug. 13, 2007) - Freewest Resources Canada Inc. (TSX VENTURE:FWR)
today announces the results of ongoing diamond drilling currently being
completed on its Clarence
Stream gold
property (the "Property"). The 100%-owned Property consists
of 11,296 hectares and is well-located close to infrastructure, 70
kilometres southwest of Fredericton in
south-western New Brunswick.
The current phase of diamond drilling is testing the deeper levels of
the gold-bearing system in the Central Zone locale. Specifically, it is
testing a 1,000-metre long portion of the structure that hosts the
Central Zone and a number of other gold deposits (collectively known as
the proximal deposits) at vertical depths of between 200 and 300
metres. The prime objective of the deeper drilling is to significantly
increase the gold resource of the proximal deposits.
Highlighting the results of the current drilling, are intersections of
6.59 g/t gold over 7.00 metres and 3.59 g/t gold over 7.00 metres in drill
holes CS07-264 and CS07-265, respectively. These results are very
significant as they represent, with the exception of one earlier drill
hole (CZ02-04), the deepest gold-bearing intercepts obtained to date
under the proximal deposits. The intersections were obtained at a
vertical depth of 200 metres, effectively opening-up the deep potential
of the entire one kilometre strike length of the proximal deposits to
the 200 metre depth and greater. The balance of the drill results are
as follow:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------- Coordi- Hole nates Dip From To Interval Gold Comments No. (metres) (metres) (metres) (metres) (g/t)(i) --------------------------------------------------------------------------- CS07- L800E, -45 degrees 153.00 159.00 6.00 4.43 visible gold, 262 250N intersection Incl. 156.50 3.50 7.31 at vertical 153.00 depth of 117 metres --------------------------------------------------------------------------- CS07- L775E, -45 degrees 193.50 195.50 2.00 47.28 visible gold, 263 300N intersection at vertical depth of 140 metres --------------------------------------------------------------------------- CS07- L750E, -50 degrees 286.50 293.50 7.00 6.59 visible gold, 264 400N intersection at vertical depth of 210 metres --------------------------------------------------------------------------- CS07- L650E, -50 degrees 281.00 288.00 7.00 3.59 Visible gold, 265 403N intersection Incl. 283.00 2.00 7.72 at vertical 281.00 depth of 208 metres --------------------------------------------------------------------------- (i) Assays performed by ALS Chemex of Val d'Or, Quebec using the fire assay method using 30 grams of prepared sample
Visible gold was intersected in all of the
drill holes, occurring with stibnite, pyrrhotite and sphalerite as
disseminations and in quartz veins and stockwork, within gabbro and
hornfels.

METALLURGICAL TEST WORK:
The Central Zone is largest of the gold deposits discovered to date on
the Clarence
Stream property,
containing an Indicated Mineral Resource of 347,904 tonnes at a grade
of 7.42 g/t gold or, 82,952 ounces of gold. Over the last 8 months,
metallurgical testing involving a cyanidation study was completed on a
120 kilogram sample to determine the gold recovery. The testing
indicates that the head grade of the Central Zone is 8.00 g/t gold and
that 90.4% of the gold can be recovered by conventional cyanidation
leach.
A similar metallurgical test was also completed on a sample from the AD
Zone, one of the distal deposits. The AD Zone contains an Indicated
Mineral Resource of 180,443 tonnes grading 7.83 g/t gold or, 44,288
ounces of gold and also contains 6,395,000 pounds of antimony as a
significant by-product. The testing indicates that the head grade of
the AD Zone sample assays 6.48 g/t gold and that an encouraging 86.6%of
the gold can be recovered by conventional cyanidation leach.
Because of the significant antimony content of the AD Zone, additional
testing was performed on this sample by floatation methods, to allow
for the recovery of antimony minerals without hindering the recovery of
gold. A very high recovery of 92.0% was obtained for both antimony and
gold by floatation, yielding a rough grade of 17.0% antimony and 54.0
g/t gold at this recovery. It is anticipated that with further
floatation testing, the recovery and grade of the concentrate will
increase for antimony and gold.
CURRENT EXPLORATION WORK:
Diamond drilling will continue in the Central Zone and proximal deposit
locales for the rest of the summer and into the fall. Drill results
will be released as they become available.
Freewest management stated: "We are very encouraged with the
results of the early stages of the deep drilling program that clearly
show that ore-grade gold mineralization occurs over mineable widths to
at least the 200 metre level. This opens up a lot of room for us in our
goal of significantly adding to our gold resource and we look forward
to continued drilling".
