Global Greensteam LLC Update -
Demonstration Project at
Aera's Belridge Oilfield

Global Greensteam LLC, a subsidiary of Global Green Solutions, announced on 1 Dec, 2009 that construction was underway on the Aera Greensteam demonstration project, thanks to significant financial support from Aera Energy LLC. The Greensteam system will produce high quality renewable steam using waste agricultural biomass as fuel.

The demonstration project is located in Aera's Belridge producing complex outside Bakersfield, CA. The Greensteam project site is surrounded by producing wells, as evident in the pictures.

Safety is an imperative for both Aera and Global Greensteam. The 5 acre Greensteam site is fenced in with access restricted to authorized personnel, and all Global Greensteam employees and contractors are required to follow rigorous safety rules.

The site office trailer arrived in December. The Greensteam engineering and operations team moved in in January, closing the office in downtown Bakersfield. Greensteam uses the latest information tools and technology for efficiency. The office servers and workstations are linked to the internet via high speed microwave communications.

The move to the site was scheduled around the arrival of major equipment ordered during 4Q 2009 by Engineering Managers Ted Conway (shown at right coordinating a delivery) and Alan Van Zandt.

The rotary dryer was one of the first pieces of major equipment to arrive. Effective drying and sizing of the biomass fuel is a key element of the Greensteam process.

The primary mill is offloaded. The primary mill is part of the fuel management system and will provide the first (coarse) stage of biomass fuel sizing.

Properly sizing and drying the biomass creates dust that needs to be managed. The cyclone shown here unassembled will be a key component of the dust control system.

Workers from The Braun Group, a local electrical contractor, install the power connection for the Greensteam plant. Braun is an experienced Bakersfield oilfield contractor that has been in the electrical contracting business since 1945.

Construction Supervisor Jim Nelson (sitting) reviews installation drawings with computer-aided drafting technician Cliff Beaty. Both Jim and Cliff are experienced professionals contracted through Processes Unlimited International, one of California's premier process engineering companies.

Construction leaders from Brinderson, one of our mechanical contractors, lay out locations for mechanical equipment placement on the foundation pads. Brinderson is a full service engineering, construction, and maintenance company serving the entire U.S. Brinderson specializes in energy projects and has an excellent track record for safety and efficiency in Bakersfield oilfield projects.

Due to the importance of the project to both Aera and Global Greensteam, a biweekly meeting is held at the Global Greensteam office to review project schedule, discuss safety, and coordinates activities. In addition to the Greensteam demonstration project being in the middle of the operating Belridge oilfield, Aera is providing steam and water utility connections to the project.
