MAJOR ONTARIO EXPLORATION
PROGRAM COMMENCED
Kondike Silver
Corp. (TSX-V: KS) is pleased to announce that it has commenced a major
exploration program in and around the Gowganda and Elk Lake Silver Camp areas
of Ontario.
The Gowganda and Elk Lake silver camps were the largest silver producing
areas in Ontario
outside of the Cobalt Silver Camp. The three camps collectively produced
more than 400 million ounces of silver.
Discoveries and
mining within the silver camps largely occurred in areas where rock is exposed
and prospectors could more easily discover the high grade silver veins.
Klondike Silver will use new state-of-the-art technologies to help map out the
geology, structures and potential silver-rich veins beneath areas covered with
glacial till and overburden.
Geotech has been
contracted to fly more than 10,000 km of airborne geophysical surveys over
areas that are largely overburden covered. More than 7,000 soil samples
are planned to be collected over selected areas. These soil samples will
be analyzed by the Mobile Metal Ion (MMI) and/or geochemical techniques
depending on the type of soil conditions. These new techniques can see
deeper into the earth with greater accuracy and control for follow-up drilling
or trenching.
Klondike Silver
has also commenced drilling to test beneath and on strike with historical
workings, some of which have not been active since the 1940s. More than
4000 m of drilling is planned to be carried out over the coming months with the
use of three diamond drills.
