VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) _ New Gold Inc. (NGD) on Wednesday reported a second-quarter loss of $8.8 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.
The Vancouver, British Columbia-based company said it had a loss of 2 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were 3 cents per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was breakeven on a per-share basis.
The gold mining company posted revenue of $180.3 million in the period.
In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, the company's shares hit $4.78. A year ago, they were trading at $2.12.
