Three things as the Mavericks visit the Pelicans

It’s hard to figure out what the Dallas Mavericks are doing. While the odds (and the owner) say losing games is the right thing to do, the team keeps rattling off wins, lowering their chances of a higher pick in this summer’s draft. Winning is never a bad thing except when it is. So here we are. The Mavs are playing hard and pushing some of the best teams in the league to the brink. Will they pull off a similar feat in New Orleans? Let’s speculate!

Anthony Davis is become death, destroyer of worlds

Saying that Davis is good is really underselling him. It’s like saying you can get good food in New Orleans. It doesn’t even begin to scrape the surface of the city’s rich, cultural food history. For example, I’ll be traveling to the Crescent City shortly after the Mavs are there, and food is all I can think about right now.

In researching where to eat, I stumbled across a gem of a place named Turkey and the Wolf. OK, my friend found it but that is beside the point. Anyway, Bon Appetit named it the best new restaurant in the country recently, which is pretty remarkable for a sandwich shop. They have a collard green melt that looks insane. Like, so good. I will be feasting on it like Davis will feast upon the Mavericks. So much feasting.

Jrue Holiday, also hungry

While we know that Davis has a larger appetite, his running mate Holiday is also rather peckish. Last time he faced the Mavs he dropped a 30-spot on them. Usually, I’d say that Holiday is the rue of the Pelicans. He binds the foundation together and enhances the overall dish. But frankly, we have to remember that he can be a star as well. With Dennis Smith Jr. sidelined, Holiday will be snacking against the backups all night. He could erupt for another high scoring performance.

Jameel Warney could go for something to eat, too

Who doesn’t like this guy? If you don’t like Warney then what are you even doing here? Why are you reading this? For the food references? I hope Warney has time to make it to Willie Mae’s Scotch House while he’s in New Orleans. It looks incredible. Just like Warney.
