UPDATE ON THE EXPLORATION ACTIVITIES
Snowfield Development Corp. (Snowfield or the Company) is pleased to update its shareholders on the exploration activities carried out at its Ticho Diamond Project, located 50 km southeast of Yellowknife, NT.
A summer till sampling program saw 72 samples collected in the area to the north of Mud Lake, to further define an unsourced kimberlitic indicator mineral (KIM) dispersion of interest. Results from the 55 samples that have been processed to date at the Saskatchewan Research Council in Saskatoon, SK confirm anomalous KIM results with an apparent cutoff to the northeast coinciding with a northwest trending structural break and diabase dyke. The remaining samples to be processed were collected up ice of the apparent KIM dispersion cutoff, and it is anticipated these samples will confirm an indicator mineral cutoff.
A thorough review of all available historic airborne and ground surveys conducted over the property was performed by consulting geologist Jennifer Burgess and Intrepid Geophysics Ltd. A total of 29 targets were selected across the property for further investigation. In September 2008, Ms. Burgess and two team members conducted a 1 week visit to the Property to ground-truth each of these targets, prospect down ice and collect any suitable till samples where warranted. An additional 5 surface samples were collected and two detailed ground magnetic surveys were completed over three high interest airborne anomalies for a total of 34.6 line kilometers of magnetic data.
Of the 29 anomalies ground-truthed, 15 anomalies remain unexplained and require further detailed magnetic surveys in order to be assessed for future drill testing. A high resolution airborne magnetic survey is being considered, to focus on the area of the unexplained KIM dispersion, as well as cover high priority anomalies not explained by ground-truthing. This survey is anticipated to commence when funding is in place, with a winter drill program to follow up any highly ranked targets.
