ANDOVER PROVIDES OUTLINE FOR 2011 WORK PROGRAM AT THE SUN PROJECT, ALASKA

 

April 4th, 2011, Vancouver, B.C. - Andover Ventures Inc. ("Andover" or the "Company") (AOX-TSX: V) (AOVTF-United States) (R2X-Frankfurt Exchange) is pleased to outline its 2011 work program for the SUN project, the Company�s 100% owned silver-copper-lead-zinc-gold VMS (volcanic massive sulphide) prospect in the Ambler Mining District of Alaska, USA.

 

The focus of the 2011 program will be an estimated 2000-meter drill program designed to further extend the Main SUN deposit to the northeast towards Picnic Creek and also to the southwest to test the S.W. SUN area.  Success in these areas could add substantial resources to the property's resource base.  The Company has signed a contract with Core One Drilling Inc. ("Core One") of Delta, Colorado, to drill NQ2 diameter core at the SUN Project during the 2011 summer drill season. Core One expects to mobilize to the project in late May, 2011.  The 2011 program has a preliminary budget of $1 million.

 

Alaska Earth Sciences has been retained to provide the mobilization for Andover for 2011. This work will begin in May and includes: refurbishing the Company's camp (built in 2007); moving in all camp supplies and fuel for helicopter, fixed-wing aircraft, drilling and camp to the camp's fuel depot on its 1500-foot airstrip; fixed-wing aircraft support throughout the program; and demobilization of both the drill and camp.  Andover maintains a 25-man camp at the SUN project consisting of living quarters, a core-logging facility, geological office, mess facility, shower and laundry facilities, generator, tool storage, and indoor and outdoor core storage. 

 

The appropriate land use permits for the 2011 hard rock exploration work have been applied for to both the State of Alaska and the Northwest Arctic Borough, and the Company is currently in negotiations with several Alaskan-based companies to provide helicopter support for the 2011 work at Sun.

 

The 2011 program at Sun will be performed under the supervision of David Hedderly-Smith, Ph.D., P.G.  Dr. Hedderly-Smith, has some 40 years experience in mineral exploration in Alaska and throughout Western North America.  An Andover Director and qualified person as defined by N.I. 43-101, he has managed several projects for Andover over the past 6 field seasons.  The 2011 geological team at Sun will also include Mr. Brian K. Jones and Mr. Bradley C. Peek. 

 

As senior project geologist Brian Jones will head up the day-to-day operations at Sun.  Mr. Jones holds a B.S. in Geology from Stanford University and an M.S. in Geology from the University of Alaska and brings over 35 years of mineral exploration and development experience to the project.   He worked in the Ambler District for Kennecott Copper Corporation in the 1980�s and has studied many similar volcanogenic massive sulfide deposits throughout the State of Alaska.  He was directly involved in the development of three disseminated gold deposits in Nevada while serving as Vice President of Exploration for Alta Gold Company in the 1990�s and recently was project geologist for the La Balsa copper project in Michoacan, Mexico, on behalf of Bell Copper Corporation.  Mr. Jones has published numerous articles on metal zoning in porphyry copper systems and related topics.

 

Brad Peek also has extensive experience with multiple mining companies since his graduation from the University of Nebraska (B.S., Geology) followed by his M.S. in Geology from the University of Alaska.  Mr. Peek�s 35 years work experience includes employment with Cominco American Inc., Houston Oil and Minerals/Tenneco Minerals and Crown Resources among others.  Andover has recently announced that Mr. Peek has joined the Company�s management team as General Manager for the Sun Project.  He will take over the full responsibilities of that role following the 2011 field work.
