The Exponential vs. the State
Whenever the singularity occurs, vast numbers of people will be left behind, refusing to get the nano-tech 'upgrades' necessary to keep up with the augmented Jones'. It will be a very turbulent time, not fun. However, as Kurzweil has pointed out, inevitable.

The Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution is not about crime, and it is not about sport, or hunting. It is about the people maintaining a free society.

A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

And it does not say, guns, rifles, or howitzers. It says 'arms', as in armaments. Many think...

It would be really great if it were the scale and scope of the government that was shrinking, however, "the long emergency" feeds right into their agenda. I think James' model of the collapse is slightly off. He is correct that the pandemic did not cause the collapse, the lockdown did.
