Iran stuck back at the US for Trump's assassination of Iran's military leader on a peace mission in Iraq.

Iran Strikes Back

If Trump wanted a war, he got one. Congratulations.

Iran fired more than a dozen missiles at two bases in Iraq where U.S. troops are stationed. Tehran says it is vengeance for killing of top Iranian general.

Cooler Heads Did Not Prevail

Most expected a milder retaliation for Trump's asinine assassination of an Iranian general but cooler heads did not prevail as Iran Fires Missiles at U.S. Forces in Iraq.

Iran launched more than a dozen ballistic missiles at two bases in Iraq where American troops are based, the Pentagon said Tuesday. The attack on the two bases, including Erbil in northern Iraq and the large Al Asad base in western Iraq, began about 5:30 p.m. Eastern Time, defense officials said.

There was no initial indication of any casualties or assessment of damage, defense officials said. At the bases, personnel remained hunkered down until an all clear could be given that the attack had concluded. Neither base has Patriot anti-missile batteries, which are used to defend against ballistic missile attacks, military officials said.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said the attacks were retaliation for the U.S. killing of Iranian Maj. Gen. Qassem Soleimani. In a statement, the IRGC urged the American people to demand their troops be withdrawn from the region and said any further aggression would be met with even greater force.

“We warn the Great Satan, the arrogant and tryant regime of the U.S. that any further aggression or other move will be met with a more painful and crushing response,” read the statement.

Common Sense Response From Rand Paul

Vice President Mike Pence called both House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) to brief them on the attack, according to aides for the two members.

Sen. Rand Paul (R., Ky.) urged administration officials to consult with Congress. “We need to stop the escalation before it leads to another endless war in the Middle East,” Mr. Paul said.

Don't Expect Common Sense From Trump

Please recall Trump Repeats Threat to Commit War Crimes.

So don't expect a common sense reaction from Trump. In fact, don't expect any sense from Trump.

He is now firmly in the grasp of the neocons who wanted war at any cost.

Do expect lies, more lies, and still more lies about the events leading up to Trump's Assassination of Qasem Soleimani, Iran's military leader.

Illegal Assassination?

Of course it was. In case you disagree, please see Assassination? Bloomberg Says No, Rand Paul and Bernie Say Yes

However, the assassination label is not what's important. Rather, it's Trump's blatantly stupid war-perpetuating policies that are important.

In response, note the Left Wing "Liberal Media" Cheers War and Assassinations. The list includes CNN, NBC, CNBC, and USA Today.

Expect more War Cheerleading

War sells newspapers!

Meanwhile nore that gold is up $25 to $1600, bond yields of 5-year duration and longer are down 7-8 basis points and the equity index futures are down about a percent.
