Question du jour: why is Jon Corzine still at large? In what fabulous Manhattan restaurants has he been enjoying plates of cockscombs and lobster with sauce hydromel and cinghiale ai frutti di bosco, while less well-connected citizens of this degenerate republic have to order their suppers from the dumpster in the WalMart parking lot where they have been living lately.

Is there still an Attorney General in this country? Will somebody please follow Eric Holder down a hallway and see if he leaves a trail of sawdust on the floor. Or did congress just retract all the fraud statutes by stealth in the same way that the Federal Reserve handed out $7.7 trillion in bailouts back in 2008 (much more than the generally accepted figure of the $800 billion TARP) without anyone finding out until three years later when some Bloomberg reporters rooted the numbers out of a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) filing. And by the way, what is the US Federal Reserve doing handing out billions of dollars to the Royal Bank of Scotland? Was Scotland admitted to the Union by stealth, too? Or did Jamie Dimon just buy it as a birthday present for Barack Obama, who likes golf.

This is what life in the USA is like nowadays: shit happens and shit un-happens, and you find out about it years later. Only a desperate and hopelessly degenerate nation would choose to live this way, in a law-optional society, in which money means everything, and yet nobody even knows what money is (or where it goes, and what it does when it goes there.)

Jon Corzine has not revealed the destination of the loot (somewhere between $600 million and $2.5 billion, estimated) that vanished from the "segregated" accounts of his many clients at MF Global. The rumor is that it went to cover a rude margin call from Jamie Dimon's bank, JP Morgan, after JC took some unfortunate positions in European sovereign bonds in a bad month. Beyond the question of why Mr. Corzine is not in jail (as a flight risk, just like DSK) is how come the Department of Justice has not so much as issued a statement saying that they were looking into the matter, so as to reassure both the victims and the financial markets that this is not a culture that just makes shit up as it goes along - i.e. that we have predictable rules and formal procedures for doing stuff.

The clowns and villains who run America have accomplished something really epic: they have vanquished meaning. Nobody knows what anything means anymore. Anything goes now. All bets are off. It's not reassuring. It leads to bad things happening like blood in the streets. When nothing means anything anymore, some people will actually strive, make an effort, to reestablish meaning in practical economic and political life, because civilized life is impossible without it. So, in those historic moments when civilization is suspended, people will work like hell to restore meaning. Sometimes though, like Germany in the 1930s, you discover that the suspension of civilization is itself intoxicating, and you ride with that for a while.

Things are really flying apart now, and just in time for Santa Claus. The European bond rollovers are about to come in fast and furious during the season of Advent and nobody can make their interest payments. They will be skipped or postponed and promised for "next Tuesday," and yet the bizarro universe of credit default swaps will not be triggered - is there a counter-party on God's green earth who could afford a pay-out? Of course not. It was all a charade. So we'll just learn that there actually is no "insurance" on all this paper. Yesterday's "hair-cut" will be tomorrow's "throat cut" as the middle innings of suspended civilization play out.

There are heroes as-yet-sung-and-unsung in America, people who prefer reality over reality-TV, people with a taste for meaning in life, which often requires the recognition that some things are true and some not so true, and you're better off with what's true. What appears to be true is that the old order is finished and a new disposition of things is coming along. The Long Emergency will beat a path straight to the Great Re-set. Sign up for it. Roll up your sleeves. There is so much to do in this country. If you are young, especially, it's all waiting for you.

This map to the left is America after the ruling elite arethrough with us. You must google Agenda 21 Map to see a better image. This is their plan for us. This is our country after the world's elite are through bringing ruin to us and to other lands. I suspect Kunstler is already familiar with this. Try to imagine he might know something you do not yet know. There are few cities remaining on this map. Most of the nation is something like a wildlife preserve and humans are not allowed to be on it. Most industry is gone. apparently, most of the corporations that are playing a role in bringing down our country will not be around either. Most humans will be gone from the continent. I don't see any numbers about how many they expect will remain, but you can count on the fact that they have planned in detail how to eliminate the rest. People need to get the facts. Most Americans I know are preoccupied with believing that all will return to the 90s very soon or in a matter of a few years or so. People cannot envision what their once beloved leadership has planned for them (apparently, death, mostly). I don't think they are losing any sleep over this. We are like cockroaches to them. They have taken up their new post as world exterminator. Watch the games begin...

well put, jk. check out this article below. this is why the Bank of Scotland received bailout money (and other foreign institutions). They are planning their world government, a reign of global terror. This new New Zealand law already has a counterpart in the US. I fear they are planning to implement next year. I heard in a lecture on the topic that the deadline for implementation is next year. countries that do not implement will be hit with heavy trade sanctions. I wish Americans would turn out by the thousands or millions to protect our farmers and health-food store operators (and probably others) when implementation takes effect. This is pure fascism. Maybe Obama will veto the new Defense Authorisation bill - I certainly hope he does- but regardless I believe the law was intended by congress to protect them from the public reaction to this and other planned horrors:

New food bill in New Zealand takes away human right to grow food

November 24th, 2011

(InvestmentWatch) – I was shocked to learn from a friend on the weekend that a new Food Bill is being brought in here in New Zealand. The new bill will make it a privilege and not a right to grow food.

I find two aspects of this bill alarming. The first is the scope and impact the new bill has, and secondly that it has all happened so quietly. There has been VERY little media coverage, on a bill which promises to jeopardise the future food security of the country.

I read that the bill is being brought in because of the WTO, which of course has the US FDA behind it, and of course that is influenced by big business (Monsanto and other players). It looks like this NZ food bill will pave the way to reduce the plant diversity and small owner operations in New Zealand, for example by way of controlling the legality of seed saving and trading/barter/giving away; all will be potentially illegal. The best website to read about the problems with the new bill is http://nzfoodsecurity.org (I have no connection with this website)

Here are some snippets:

- It turns a human right (to grow food and share it) into a government-authorised privilege that can be summarily revoked.

- It makes it illegal to distribute “food” without authorisation, and it defines “food” in such a way that it includes nutrients, seeds, natural medicines, essential minerals and drinks (including water).

- By controlling seeds, the bill takes the power to grow food away from the public and puts it in the hands of seed companies. That power may be abused.

- Growing food for distribution must be authorised, even for “cottage industries”, and such authorisation can be denied.

- Under the Food Bill, Police acting as Food Safety Officers can raid premises without a warrant, using all equipment they deem necessary – including guns (Clause 265 – 1).

- Members of the private sector can also be Food Safety Officers, as at Clause 243. So Monsanto employees can raid premises – including marae – backed up by armed police.

- The Bill gives Food Safety Officers immunity from criminal and civil prosecution.

- The Government has created this bill to keep in line with its World Trade Organisation obligations under an international scheme called Codex Alimentarius (“Food Book”). So it has to pass this bill in one form or another.

- The bill would undermine the efforts of many people to become more self-sufficient within their local communities.

- Seed banks and seed-sharing networks could be shut down if they could not obtain authorisation. Loss of seed variety would make it more difficult to grow one’s own food.

- Home-grown food and some or all seed could not be bartered on a scale or frequency necessary to feed people in communities where commercially available food has become unaffordable or unavailable (for example due to economic collapse).

- Restrictions on the trade of food and seed would quickly lead to the permanent loss of heirloom strains, as well as a general lowering of plant diversity in agriculture.

- Organic producers of heirloom foods could lose market share to big-money agribusiness outfits, leading to an increase in the consumption of nutrient-poor and GE foods.

Yes why is Corzine still at large?
I traded with MF but was extremely lucky to want a break and basically closed my account and used the funds to carry out a moderate size renovation at home.

But not only Corzine...what about the other execs, the accountants, the auditors, and for heaven's sake the regulators??????????????

I am surprised that he hasn't been murdered.

Well, gee wiz -- I guess I am getting repetitive. The problem is that Kunstler keeps pushing the same nonsense. I'll try and be a bit more creative in my critiques. You know I don't really call him any bad names or use bad words, but, gee wiz, I sure get tempted sometimes -- and I can see how you are upset. Not good for blood pressure. I recommend l-arginine, a natural amino acid, if yours is high, as it seems to be. If things make you sick, another good home remedy is ginger root (shredded in a nice tomato salad). I can give you more suggestions for your issues if you'd like.

So I'll really try to be nicer and more original in my comments.

I'm really getting sick of JIM C and his constant critiquing comments. We all know you hate this guy , you cut and paste then add your lame comments. What did you get passed by for an assistant editor position on your high school newspaper? F^&k give it a rest troll bag.

I'm a big critic of James, but he mostly got it right this week, but maybe for the wrong reasons. It's good to have a weekly column like this just to remind us of how buffoon cheerleaders like him helped get us into this mess. Yes, James, we could go back to a "world made by hand," but I doubt that technology will get erased by even a new Dark Age. More likely, most people will no longer be able to afford it, thanks, in part, to all the left-wing policies you have helped to promote.

Guys, what is going on is part of a long-term plan. Read about Agenda 21 or see my comment above - the new rules against human right to grow food are part of this multi-national (in fact, UN) agenda. H.W. Bush first signed us on for this. Clinton and Dubya aggressively moved to bring all of this to fruition. Obama is carrying the torch forward. Your partisan politics are a big part of the problem, not part of the solution. This is a bi-partisan effort to destroy America, among other things. Why do our leaders participate in this? Who knows. No doubt, they are being paid off or threatened with assassination. Kunstler is very smart, a gifted writer. Thank him for the intelligence and humor he brings to the topic, but get off his back. It is our own government - both parties - that bear responsibility. Google "Agenda 21 map". You will see the future they have planned for us. It does not include much industry, nor much human life at all. This is very eye-opening. Kunstler is not wrong. While we are busy blaming each other, they are succeeding at bringing absolute ruin to everything we value. It is time to stop playing party politics and to hold our leaders accountable - with a few exceptions, such as Ron Paul. It is time for the American people to work together. They have some very bad things planned. If you can't find my comment, google: "New Food Bill in New Zealand takes away human right to grow food". the US has already passed the same laws. they will implement soon. check it out. The food laws are part of Agenda 21, a section called Codex Alimentarius. Ample serious material is still available online. Some excellent video presentations are on You Tube. We need to drop our attitudes. This is all very serious. Think planned famine and who knows what. Populations can be controlled exclusively with food. The planners know what they are doing.

Nothing orginal today, as expected. Kunstler begins with his usual 4 part assault on reason: the one-two reality punch, the expected non-sequitur -- and his expected solution.

1) Punch one: "Question du jour: why is Jon Corzine still at large?" True, Corzine is a crook and should be in jail.

2) Punch two: "Is there still an Attorney General in this country?" True, Holder has been absent, allowing the Fast and Furious fiasco and the earlier Black Panther voter intimidation episode.

3) Non Sequitur: "Only a desperate and hopelessly degenerate nation would choose to live this way, in a law-optional society, in which money means everything, and yet nobody even knows what money is (or where it goes, and what it does when it goes there.)" Wrong. The whole nation is not wasted because of 1) and 2)

4) The Solution: "The Long Emergency will beat a path straight to the Great Re-set." This is his usual, this time implied, return to "a world made by hand" and ruled by his select 'cognoscenti.'
