The Company was then named Pilbara Mines Limited (Pilbara) and had assembled a tenement package centred on the abandoned Teutonic Bore copper-zinc-silver (Cu-Zn-Ag) mine located 60 kilometres north of Leonora in the Eastern Goldfields district of Western Australia.
The Company acquired the Teutonic Bore mining leases from Mount Isa Mines (MIM) in August 1997 with the objective of treating stockpiled surface resources and tailings estimated at 1.37 mt at 2.29% Zn, 0.9% Cu and 73 g/t Ag. In addition, significant inferred resources remained as remnant blocks in the underground workings and as a zone of footwall stringer (copper) mineralisation adjacent to the mined out Cu-Zn-Ag massive sulphide body. |
