INFORMATION CIRCULAR ON VANADIUM

Toronto, ON Friday, August 8, 2008 VANADIUM: An important "niche element." The price of metallurgical coal has been rising. China has signed agreements with iron ore producers at three times the previous rate. The price of steel has been rising sharply to meet emerging market demands as well as infrastructure upgrade requirements in the mature economies. New chemical plants, oil refineries and nuclear reactors require special steel which is light, strong and anti-corrosive. The same can be said about growing international armaments and space industry. In addition, special applications are placing high demands on elements which have, until recently, been obscure symbols on Mendelev's period table Titanium is a case in point, until it was used extensively in the manufacture of golf clubs. VANADIUM is growing in importance and recognition because of its wide range of applications. It is used in tool steel, jet turbine blades, high speed air frames, and specialty steel products where weight, toughness and durability are required. It is also used in the manufacture of sulphuric acid via the contact process. The University of New South Wales has developed a large scale vanadium battery, applicable to the growing wind turbine electrical generating industry. Huge vanadium batteries have been successfully used in Australia, in conjunction with their windmill farms. Of course, the growing demand for vanadium has been reflected in higher prices and potential for high profits for those companies focusing on the exploration for this "niche element."
