MARKET COMMENTARY FOR NOV 5, 2012

In the last session before the polls open south of the border, we are seeing some weakness from overseas. While ASX shares closed slightly higher on the back of materials shares and better than expected retail sales numbers, the rest of Asia slipped. Of course, with the Melbourne Cup being run tomorrow at Flemington, investors will be at the betting booths instead of their trading terminals, so perhaps this was positioning for the day that stops the nation.
