History of the MOTHAE Project |
A pit sampling program undertaken in 1966 by Lonrho Ltd. yielded a grade of approximately 2.8 carats per hundred tonnes, similar to that of Letseng. The size of this bulk sample is uncertain, but estimates based on published pit dimensions and frequency suggest it comprised approximately 16,000 tonnes. No information is available on the per carat value of diamonds recovered to date from Mothae.
