Location of the Chiri Project
Chiri is a known diamondiferous kimberlite located in the Lunda Sul province of Angola approximately 12km from Catoca, one of the world’s largest diamond mines, and amongst a cluster of other known kimberlites.
 
History of the Chiri Project
Mined illegally during the civil war, Chiri’s diamonds have been assessed and were valued in July 2008 at approximately US$150 – 200 per carat.
 
Geology of the Chiri Project
Gem Diamonds embarked upon a preliminary evaluation which indicated that the kimberlite has a large surface expression of some 50 to 60ha, although a significant portion of this is covered by fine grained kimberlitic sediments of minimal economic pot more...
