Steve, I respectfully dissagree. You state that "supply will always equal demand". Myself and many others well educated on the subject, believe that for a long time, gold has been "rehypothecated", ie. same ounce of gold sold multiple times, thus having multiple claims on it. I think the piece you may be missing, is that Dr. Paul is saying a free-market health care system would work better. He is not saying that the present or recent (pre-Obamacare) system is better.
