Reuters Africa, in its October 11, 2012 article, reports that S.Africa's gold output is up in Aug, platinum down.

South Africa's gold output rose 0.4 percent in volume terms in August while total mineral production increased 0.8 percent compared with the same month last year, Statistics South Africa data showed on Thursday.

Production of platinum group metals fell 1.9 percent, while output of non-gold minerals rose 1 percent, the statistics agency said
