Due to ample rain, operations may recommence two
weeks early.
Having now collected and stored enough water, Leagold Mining
Corp. (LMC:TSX.V; LMCNF:OTCQX) intends to restart operations at its RDM
mine in Brazil on or around Nov. 20, it announced in a news release. The company temporarily curtailed
activities there in early October 2018 due to drought.
Thanks to the onset of the rainy season, typically occurring between
November and March, the restart will take place two weeks sooner than
expected. Workers already have been recalled. Between water captured in the
reservoir throughout the season along with conservation strategies Leagold
continues to implement, the RDM mine should have enough water to sustain
operations, uninterrupted, throughout 2019, the company noted.
As for power, Leagold stated it will use the diesel generators already in
place until the new power line gets commissioned, likely in late December. At
that time, the company will switch to using the national power grid.
