The program is key in identifying high-priority
targets for a 2020 drill program.
Quaterra
Resources Inc. (QTA:TSX.V; QTRRF:OTCQX) announced in a news release that it and Chuchuna Minerals Co. began
their exploration program at their Groundhog copper-gold project located 300
kilometers southwest of Anchorage, Alaska.
They kicked off those efforts with a 1,500 line kilometer,
helicopter-borne ZTEM (Z-axis Tipper Electromagnetic) geophysical survey over
the property's 40,000 acres, which is being conducted by Geotech of Ontario,
Canada. The survey will provide tightly spaced geophysical data, aid in
better defining drill targets and help connect the new information with
previous geophysical and geological work, the release noted.
Also underway, a team organized by project operator Chuchuna is doing
fieldwork, including geologic mapping, prospecting and sampling. The intent is
to "continue detailed mapping, locate new rock exposures, follow up on
previous work and generate new subsurface data for copper-gold porphyry
exploration," the companies explained.
Exploration work is being done in accordance with the existing agreement
between Chuchuna and Quaterra, in which the latter must spend $5 million over
six years on exploration at Groundhog to earn a 90% interest in it.
