As you have made this mistake before, let me inform you that the man's surname is Sunstein, not Susstein. From what i know of his work, it seems rather a far stretch to imagine that a simple down arrow is the mark of his work. He proposed that opposing positions be argued, not down arrows given. Down arrows on their own accomplish nothing in terms of moving the dialogue in a different direction. His idea--and there is no evidence that it was ever implemented during his time in the Obama administration--was to infiltrate groups that hold conspiratorial views, especially around the events of 9-11, and offer differing views. He felt this prudent in light of what he termed the cyberbalkinization of such groups; that is to say, groups of people who had cut themselves off from outside voices. In one sense he was correct in that the internet does seem to enable the creation of groups of people with similar views and/or objectives and those groups do not readily accept folks who disagree with them. But he was mistaken to believe that it could be any other way. After all, groups form because they share something in common.

That being said, i doubt we have much to be worried about here at 24h gold with regard information warriors. i think we need be more concerned with regard the information we are providing to the NSA every time one of us mentions what we own, for if i am mistaken and the government decides one day to come for our gold, they will know whose door to knock on.

i would not sweat the down arrows. i have a group of well trained monkeys (and one monkey lover) that automatically give me down arrows regardless of what i have expressed. You may have your own group of monkeys giving you down arrows. They are meaningless when not backed up by well reasoned opposing arguments. (My monkeys are capable of only making high pitched screeching noises.) Myself, i far more appreciate someone telling me what a dolt i am than a dozen up arrows. Competing ideas enable us to grow. Arrows in either direction do nothing to further a dialogue in that they do not tell us if they agree or disagree with everything we have said, or just a part of what we have said or merely how we have stated our position.
