>On the America That Was – Now the United (Police) State of America  - Doug Casey - Casey Research
Mr. Casey is certainly correct in stating that the government is the largest threat to our health and wealth; yet he omits mentioning the damage done to our economy by thieves, liars and thugs in business. There's certainly enough evidence available now to categorically state that our economy was almost thoroughly destroyed by a large clique of thieves found in financial institutions and Wall Street banks and brokerage houses. To be a realist means, among other things, that you must be able to identify the crucial and critical problems and situations which exist in our nation - Being a realist enables one to ultimately become an optimist. An optimist is one who possesses enough hope to identify the problems and act upon them. You cannot be one without the other. Identify the ENTIRE state of affairs or do not bother to address a solution. In the case of our latest economic catastrophe, our government's role was not only to facilitate the theft and rigging of markets, interest rates, share bundles, etc.; but to insure that the perpetrators escaped any and all consequences and CONTINUED to thrive after the damage was done. Honest business people are up against serious competition with this scenario. No wonder Mr. Casey says you must internationalize if you want to avoid being damaged, restrained or unfortunately, face the real possibility of being destroyed. I heartily agree. Upon even cursory inspection, I find it ironic that as the government becomes more oppressive, repressive and punitive, the level of activity by the thieving rogues in the business and financial communities seems to be growing exponentially. I'm certain and still cling to the belief that most business and financial people in the US are hardworking, honest and just as disgusted as I am about what has and still is occurring in the economic activities of our nation. Sadly, we are left with few choices to address this ugly reality as it seems that no one is listening or watching and navigating a business through this minefield has, indeed, turned into a very dangerous maneuver.
