This weekend, I was moved to tears by a segment on Jon Stewart’s Daily Show. I was leery of writing of it, for fear the “ULTIMATE DIVIDER” – politics – might rear its ugly head. However, I ASSURE you this piece will touch ALL Americans – as it rightfully should. This has NOTHING to do with Democrats or Republicans – but government in general; and thus, the appalling way “AMERICA TREATS ITS OWN”…

Veterans’ unemployment — a national disgrace

The segment was done in two parts; the first, describing how Congress (again, NOT “Republicans” or “Democrats”; but GOVERNMENT) refused to pass a bill providing funding to integrate returning veterans into the work force…

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart World of Warshaft

Yes, a measly $1 billion – over five years – was not deemed worthwhile to help the naïve youths TRICKED into serving via PROPAGANDA about Iraq…

Study: Bush, aides made 935 false statements in run-up to war

…and Afghanistan…

Americans not hearing about Afghanistan War Casualties because media doesn’t broadcast them

…which combined, have taken the lives of roughly 10,000 foreign soldiers, journalists, and workers – mostly American; let alone, hundreds of thousands PARALYZED, MAIMED, or otherwise INJURED…
Casualties in Iraq/Afghanistan

…let alone, millions of innocent civilians…

…often, due to being kept in-country LONG after the termination of prescribed tours…

Stop-loss policy

…in wars NEVER approved by Congress, per Constitutional mandate

Did Congress approve America’s longest war?

that thus far, have cumulatively cost $3.2 to $4.0 TRILLION…

Financial cost of the Iraq War

Essentially, EVERYTHING about the “War on Terrorism” has been a BOLD-FACED LIE; and NO ONE has suffered more than the soldiers – and their families – duped into “serving their country”; just as in Vietnam, when 55,000 American soldiers were killed, along with more than 3.5 MILLION Vietnamese…

Vietnam War – Wikipedia

in the name of a FALSE FLAG ATTACK…

Gulf of Tonkin incident

…and subsequently, treated like GARBAGE…

Our Treatment of Vietnam Vets — and Our Current Vets — Is a Shame

But it’s the second segment that will REALLY anger you; and likely, move you to tears as well. These two brave veterans needlessly risked their lives EVERY day in the name of the government PROPAGANDA machine; only to be “tossed to the curb” once their tours ended. Tens of millions of Americans could not care less; and hopefully, the spreading of this video might help to effect change – or at the least, passage of that pathetic $1 billion bill…

The Daily Show Exclusive – Economic Reintegration for Veterans

…and MORE importantly, open a few more eyes to “HOW AMERICA TREATS ITS OWN.”

I am of the Vietnam era and have always been absolutely disgusted by the way our government AND general populace treated the returning veterans. I recently lost and old friend that served in the South Pacific theater, was shipped to Nagasaki shortly after it was bombed.....he was plagued by health problems that were obvious results of radiation poisening and only received denial from the government. A few weeks before his death in 2012, the government did admit that his health problems resulted from radiation exposure, but they had lost his records and therefore denied that he had ever been in Nagasaki. I knew this man for at least 30 years and I cannot recall that he ever once uttered a negative comment towards his country. The many problems this country has have been CAUSED by the government, including the condition of the economy. The deficit didn't just jump out of a closet nor was it caused by a bunch of us now old farts wanting to collect the funds we paid into Social Security. I, for one, intend to collect, regardless of what it takes and I can assure you I'm not alone.
