>Fiat Money and Independence for Scotland  - Hugo Salinas Price - Plata.com
Excellent, thoughtful opinion piece once again HSP.
Glyn, you are so sensitive on the matter of your unsatisfactory treatment at the hands of Scots that you appear to not have read the article beyond the mention of Johnson, which evidently put you off completely. Fiat currency is merely the 'modern' version of the historic grievances (violence and coercion) that you list. But it is the one which has proven most successful. Its subtlety arouses little opposition, and its ubiquity results in massive transfers of wealth, unrecognized by most of the wealth producers and savers, working usually in small percentages which compound inexorably.
I dispute your characterization of the article as promotion of a personal agenda. It is clearly an admonition that separation per se will not save anything if the new nation retains fiat currency. The pro-independence folks have not thought that issue through, or are saving that detail for later.
