>Lying is the new Normal  - James Howard Kunstler -
Mr. Kunstler is right. I live in Silicon Valley, in California. The Valley is populated with very well-educated people from all over the US and from around the world. Generally speaking, I know almost no one here who understands what is going on in this country or the magnitude of lying and manipulation that is daily emanating from our news media. If you don't see it, you are not paying attention. It has become so blatant. And yet it has come as a surprise to me to learn that most of the people around me can hardly think a thought independent of government and journalism. I know a lot of very smart people, and most capitulated intellectually following 9/11. In the end, this may be a failure of mind, but I think it is primarily an emotional decision. Living by lies feels good to them, it is less demanding than independent thought, and so they continue to hide behind the lies. It frees them of the need to "do" something. It frees them of the burdens of recogniton. They look to the newspapers or the TV news - and you, if you dare to assert that information is missing from the stories they read, you are the problem. There is no authority for them greater than an American journalist as long as he/she speaks from a recognized, mainstream source. All other information remains "fringe", be it from God himself. In this way, there is never an opening for new information inside their shiny little authority-loving brains and those who control the news (and who profit from the whole scheme) continue to rule the day.

What I'd like to know is how come he was "buried at sea," when the operation took place at least a thousand miles from the sea. Did the US Navy Seals transfer his remains from a helicopter to a boat? Or to an airplane? And did they just drop him over the night-darkened Indian Ocean like a sack of lentils? By the time you read this, the whole world will be clamoring for photos of the deceased...
