July 8, 2009 -- Vancouver, British Columbia -- Happy Creek Minerals Ltd. (TSX-V: HPY, the "Company") is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Charles Chebry as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). 

Mr. Chebry will bring his extensive experience in management of public companies to Happy Creek's senior executive level. He is currently Chairman and Director of Cedar Mountain Exploration Inc. (TSXV:CED), and CFO and Director of Argonaut Exploration Inc (TSXV:AGA).  Mr. Chebry is also CFO of Kivalliq Energy Corp. (TSXV:KIV) and a Director of CBR Gold Corp. (TSXV:CBG, (formerly Committee Bay Resources Inc.), and served as President and founder of its predecessor company Arta Enterprises Inc. Mr. Chebry was CFO, Vice President, Finance and Director of Olympia Financial Group Inc. (TSX:OLY) and its wholly owned subsidiary Olympia Trust Company from March 1997 to December 2006 and remains a Director.  Mr. Chebry has a Bachelor of Science from the University of Alberta and is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA).

We very much thank Mr. Brian Welwood, who has stepped aside as CFO and resigned as Director, for his capable service and role with the Company over the past year and a half, and we wish him well as he continues his private accounting business. 

The Company is finalizing plans that include drilling the 100% owned Rateria property that is located near Teck's Highland Valley copper mine, and building on the Company's exploration success at its 100% owned Silverboss and Fox properties that are located near Xstrata's Boss Mountain molybdenum mine.
