Good morning Ladies and Gentlemen, I would like to draw your attention to a
recent article on Reuters regarding the sale of a 20% stake by Lepanto
Consolidated Mining to Zijin Mining Group, China's second-largest gold miner,
for $70m.
The Lepanto project is next door to Bezant Resources' Mankayan Project
in the historical mining belt of the Philippines. The Lepanto project has a
resource of similar size to Bezant's resource of 1.9 billion pounds of
copper and 2.9 million ounces of Gold, however while the Chinese have paid £35m
for a 20% stake in Lepanto, the 100% market cap of Bezant resides at £35m.
Chinese companies are making these kind of acquisitions all around the world
in order to secure commodities at favourable prices for their growing economy.
The Philippines is seen as an excellent area for them to look for further
acquisitions due to the close proximity of the Philippines to China and the
recent opening up of the country to foreign ownership of resource assets.
Shares in Bezant Resources are currently trading up 4p, or 5% at 89p despite
the general downward trend of the UK markets.
With Best Regards
