The gulf between Trump’s populist campaign promises and radical
Inauguration speech that waxed eloquently about ending business as usual
in Washington has been marginalized, ring-fenced and tossed right back into
the swamp.
Meanwhile, the U.S. economy is rolling over, with economic
indicators flashing recession on the horizon as the Federal Reserve and other
central banks struggle to deal with the contradictory objectives of returning
interest rates to somewhat normal levels with a banking system that still
requires excess liquidity injections to truly function.
